Sustainable Nantucket has long been committed to working on transportation solutions that meet the needs of a growing community while preserving what makes us different.

To help reduce the amount of traffic congestion and pollution, and to, ideally, reduce the number of cars brought to Nantucket from the mainland, we are researching and planning to introduce a car-sharing pilot program to Nantucket in 2009. This program would be modeled upon successful programs in other towns and cities, and would serve as alternative on-island transportation for visitors and residents.
