The Sustainable Nantucket Green Council (SNGC) in collaboration with the  Town’s Energy Study Committee will assist the Town of Nantucket in completing the third milestone of the ICLEI Cities for Climate Protection Campaign-- developing a Climate Protection Action Plan for Nantucket.

This plan will recommend policies and measures that our local government can take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve its emissions reduction target. It will incorporate already existing initiatives and recommend a comprehensive pro-active plan for the community, addressing items in terms of energy conservation, waste reduction and use of renewable energy resources such as town owned and/or operated buildings, streetlights, transit systems, wastewater treatment facilities as well as community-related activities (e.g., residential and commercial buildings, motor vehicles, waste streams, industry) It will also incorporate public awareness and education efforts. The development of the Local Action Plan will include public involvement in order to build the consensus among stakeholders required to implement measures.
