The SNGC is an active program committee made up of some representatives from our Board members, staff and an energetic group of volunteers.
Formed in 2007 as “Nantucket Green”, this “citizens’ action committee” became a sub-committee of SN shortly thereafter. In early 2008, the group officially became a volunteer-driven program of SN and was re-named the Sustainable Nantucket Green Council.
The Green Council’s objective is to collaborate with the town of Nantucket, its agencies and commissions, and with other non-profits to help develop policies and programs which support energy conservation, reduction of waste, the development of renewable energy resources, and the reduction of our community’s “carbon footprint” as a whole.
