Current Priorities

		Preserve Downtown Character Promote acquisition of key downtown properties for community use (e.g. the Dreamland) Support Locally Owned, Year-Round Businesses Implement a Think Local - Buy Local - Hire Local Campaign

		Support Traditional Industries Promote establishment of Agriculture Commission Raise awareness about buying from local growers Sponsor the Nantucket Farmers and Artisans Market

		Strengthen Community and Promote Sustainability Create the Sustainable Nantucket Youth Council (SNYC) Raise awareness around organic gardening Address excessive use of plastic-bottled water

		Preserve and Protect the Environment Create the Sustainable Nantucket Green Council (SNGC) Petition Town of Nantucket to join the Campaign for Climate Protection sponsored by ICLEI Work with Town to assess community carbon emissions and set targets for reduction Collaborate with Energy Study Committee to develop Climate Protection Action Plan for Nantucket. Research and develop Green Building Incentive program for Nantucket as part of the Climate Protection Action Plan Promote the Clean Energy Choice program supporting the development of renewable energy on Nantucket

		Develop Transportation Solutions Research and implement car-sharing program Promote use of alternative transportation network
